Our
Vision

Our vision
is rooted in the legacy of our ancestors. Throughout history, in
traditional cultures worldwide, elders shared their wisdom, vision,
and earth keeping. Elders taught each new generation how to care for
its people, Earth and all species. That heritage sustained life---up
to now. Today, however, we no longer care for Earth in ways that
assure life for future generations.
The challenge for today's elders, and for all of us, is to
transform our way of living on Earth. Given man's devastation to the
ecosystem and the world's growing population, we must find ways to
fulfill basic human needs with integrity and in balance with nature.
The Earth needs its elders. Now is the time for midlife and older persons to reclaim their
sacred heritage; to become conscious, caring and wise 21st century
elders. Now is the time for people, of all ages, to become compassionate earthkeepers for our children, grandchildren, and the children's
children.
Earth Elders is not a membership organization. There are no dues
and formal membership requirements. The Earth Elders vision exists
in the universe, free for all who choose to claim the name and honor
the vision. Earth Elders exists wherever and whenever an individual
calls herself or himself an Earth Elder, or when a local group
chooses to use the Earth Elders name and logo to form a community
base for elders committed to honoring their own aging and caring for
the Earth. Earth Elders connect globally via the web and locally in
community groups. It is this spirit and work that is our legacy. It
is living the vision that identifies us as Earth Elders.
Our
Mission

The
mission of Earth Elders is to honor aging, elders and Earth: A call
for midlife and older persons to become conscious and caring 21st
century elders --- wise, compassionate, keepers of Earth and holders
of a vision for future generations living in harmony with nature. We
embrace this work as a sacred trust.
